Welcome to the Comprehensive Coastal Resource Management Portal. This portal links you to guidance, data, and tools pursuant to recent policy changes in tidal shoreline management adopted by the General Assembly in 2012. These changes adopt living shorelines as the preferred approach to address tidal shoreline erosion in Virginia.

The Center for Coastal Resources Management will continue to update this site regularly with new information. If your locality is not represented at this time, refer to the regional resources and check back at a later date.

If you would like to know more about the changes to the Virginia Code (Policy), ways in which to implement the new policy (Model Language), or a better understanding of the science behind this change (Guidance), use the links below. We have also provided links to our latest online course and existing decision tools which can be used for decision making along all tidal shorelines in Virginia.

highlights

Beginning in 2012, the Center for Coastal Resources Management (CCRM) started developing portals for each Tidewater locality. The portals are gateways to resources that address data gaps, shoreline best management practices, and sea level rise issues at the local level. Each portal links to comprehensive shoreline data, maps displaying management recommendations, and decision support tools. Each year, CCRM will release more local portals. Check the side bar or the status map below.
