Ecological Cumulative Impact Assessment

A generalized cumulative impact assessment is presented for ecological resources.  This cumulative assessment identifies areas within the 50-year planning window that support ecological resources.  The Erosion Vulnerability Assessment reviewed seven (7) different ecologically-based data layers (see below).  With possible numbers ranging from 1-7, this cumulative index reveals the number of ecological resources co-occurring in the 50 year planning window. Without weighting or assigning independent degrees of importance to individual layers, there is value alone in merely knowing where the cumulative ecological loss of resources may be greatest.  The type and location of these resources are derived from the available data.  The cumulative assessment presents one opportunity for a jurisdiction to identify hotspots of ecological vulnerability merely by viewing the number of important resources located within the erosional window.
