STRATEGIC GOAL  A

Coordination of planning and zoning at state, local, regional and federal levels to incorporate environmental protection with economic sustainability

 

 

INTERMEDIATE GOALS:

1. Better knowledge of land resources

2. Steer development into desirable areas

3. Sustainable building practices

4. Coordination Mechanism

5. Transportation planning consistent with development and environmental protection plans

6. Market VA’s “Quality of Life”

7. Regional open space plans

8. State-wide planning process

9. Identify framework of goals for open-space preservation and use based on environmental sensitivity at all scales of space/gov’t

10. Compensate localities which have identified greater amount of critical areas targeted for preservation for the subsequent loss in revenues

11.Encourage eco-friendly uses

 

STRATEGIC GOAL MEASURES:

  • Increase in percent and number of local comp plans with integrated consideration of coastal resources

 

 

 

INTERMEDIATE GOAL MEASURES:

·        Increase in percentage of total land area inventoried and categorized for appropriate land use according to environmental parameters.
