Goal 21. To add new and improve existing public access to coastal waters and shorefront lands for a variety of recreational and educational uses throughout the coastal area

STRATEGIC GOAL  A

Increased number and quality of public access sites

(30% increase in sites by 2010; 500 miles of designated water trails by 2005)

 

 

INTERMEDIATE GOALS:

1.      Assess need for new access sites and upgrades by local demand and type of demand

2.     Increased buy-in /understanding of public access issues by public and public officials

3.     Acquire land, build and upgrade facilities at appropriate sites  

 

STRATEGIC GOAL MEASURES:

·        Increase in number of water access sites

o        boatramps

o        public piers

o        waterfront parks

o        beaches

 

 

INTERMEDIATE GOAL MEASURES:

·        Increase in percentage of reach showing improved understanding of public access issues (via survey)

·        Increase in funding for acquisition and upgrades

  • Increase in number of projects to upgrade facilities
