STRATEGIC GOAL A

NPS loads at “safe” levels

 

INTERMEDIATE GOALS:

1.  Change public understanding of NPS pollution effects/ change behavior
2.  Identify and minimize inappropriate land use
3. Conduct Commonwealth-wide land management /stewardship for nutrients/toxics/ runoff
4. Conserve/preserve resource lands
5. Establish and implement regulatory and non-regulatory control and “safe” levels for NPS from all sources

 

STRATEGIC GOAL MEASURES:

·        Increase in number of previously impaired waters delisted within the state, from both the 303(d) and 305(b) lists

 

 

 

INTERMEDIATE GOAL MEASURES:

  • Increase in monitoring of pollutant loads to surface and ground water
  • Increase in percentage of land use under a BMP
  • Increase in percentage of compliance with regulatory programs
  • Increase in percentage of coastal area of state covered by watershed management programs
  • Reduction in RPA variances
  • Reduction in RPA violations
  • Increase percent compliance with E&S law (to 100%)
  • Increase in miles of forested buffer shoreline
  • Increase in percentage of reach showing improved understanding of NPS pollutants delivered to waterways and their effects (via survey)
