Teaching Marsh: Native Perennials
Flowering plants in the Native Perennial garden provide nectar, seeds and cover for a variety of insects, birds and other animals. These plants are adapted to poor quality, sandy soils typically located adjacent to tidal wetlands. They are drought tolerant and do not need routine watering, fertilizing or pesticides. These plants attract a variety of wildlife to the Teaching Marsh such as migratory birds, butterflies, and marsh rabbits. Different colors and seasons of blooming flowers also provide visual interest.
