------------------------------------------------------------------------
This directory contains the fully revised version of the FES 2014
distribution for elevation and loading tide:
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Concerning tide elevations, FES2014b ocean tide model is distributed.
Two versions are available:
*fes2014b_elevations/ contains the non-extrapolated version: the model
is defined on a 1/16° grid directly interpolated from the finite element
native grid of the model. Filenames are wave.nc.
One tar file is available : ocean_tide.tar.xz

    *fes2014b_elevations_extrapolated/ contains the extrapolated version:
the above version has been extrapolated on the coasts in order to cover
nearly entirely the coastal regions. Filenames are wave.nc.
One tar file is available : ocean_tide_extrapolated.tar.xz

Concerning loading tide, directory fes2014a_loadtide/ contains the new
FES2014a tide loading grids supplied on the same 1/16° grid.
Filenames are wave.nc. One tar file is available :
load_tide.tar.xz

fes2014a_loadtide must be added to fes2014b_elevations (extrapolated or not)
to compute the FES2014b geocentric (elastic) tide.

The tides database contains 34 tidal components for each tide product:
2N2, Eps2, J1, K1, K2, L2, La2, M2, M3, M4, M6, M8, Mf, MKS2, Mm, MN4,
MS4, MSf, MSqm, Mtm, Mu2, N2, N4, Nu2, O1, P1, Q1, R2, S1, S2, S4, Sa, Ssa, T2.

Note that the files distributed are NetCdf4 (the NetCDF libraries must be
up-to-date to read those data).

sha256sum files are delivered to check the size of the files downloaded:
when running the command "sha256sum filename.tar.xz", you should get same
values as the ones indicated in .sha256sum files.

To extract the files you need to do :
tar xvfJ *.tar.xz

Tide prediction
-------------------------

To produce FES2014 tidal prediction the dedicated software is available on:
https://bitbucket.org/cnes_aviso/fes

To perform FES2014 elevations (ocean or geocentric) tide prediction,
you need to use the following parameter files: fes2014b_elev.ini or
fes2014b_elev_extrapol.ini
