7a(2). CONSTRUCT A REVETMENT, PLACE IT ONSHORE TO THE EXTENT POSSIBLE
Deep waters require large amounts of fill to create wide intertidal zones. Large amounts of fill need to be supported by large rock structures, leading to large environmental impacts. In deep areas, a small revetment, placed onshore to the extent possible, generally has less environmental impact.

This is an example of a marsh toe revetment for an area with low fetch and deep nearshore depth. |
