Tidal Wetland Plant Identification Workshop August 22, 2008

This workshop was sponsored by the Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Virginia (CBNERRVA) and the VIMS Center for Coastal Resources Management.  Many common herbaceous plant species found in coastal plain wetlands were described, including invasive species. Using plant identification to determine jurisdictional boundaries and recognize local tide ranges was also emphasized.  A field session in the VIMS Teaching Marsh provided hands-on opportunities to apply the lessons learned in the morning lectures.
