Goal 3. To prevent damage of coastal resources from hazardous materials through effective planning, management, and cleanup programs

STRATEGIC GOAL A:

 

Improved prevention, containment and cleanup programs for toxics/ hazmat

INTERMEDIATE GOALS:

1. Change public/ planners understanding of the effects of potential spills, outfalls, etc.
2. Establish effective cleanup and containment technology/ techniques to minimize hazards from toxics/ hazmat released to coastal environment
3. Create and maintain a database of hazmat, potential hazmat potential risks of hazmat 

 

STRATEGIC GOAL MEASURES:

 

·        Decrease in response time to spills

·        Increase in percentage of spill contained/cleaned up

 

INTERMEDIATE GOAL MEASURES:

 

·        Increase in the number of hazardous material clean-ups, “round-ups”

·        Increase in monitoring of toxic releases

·        Increase in number and funding for projects to develop new cleanup technology and techniques

·        Increase in percentage of reach showing improved understanding of the effects of  potential spills, outfalls, etc. (via survey)
