Goal 5. To protect the public from contaminated seafood

STRATEGIC GOAL A:

Prevention of contaminated seafood/beds

 

INTERMEDIATE GOALS:

1. Change public understanding/ behavior regarding PS and NPS pollution

2.  Identify safe levels in water connected to body burdens (bio-accumulation and magnification)

3. Reduce toxics and nutrient levels to “safe” levels

4. Cleanup of beds/ waters where appropriate

 

STRATEGIC GOAL MEASURES:

  • Reduction in number of necessary shellfish bed closures
  • Reduction in number of  necessary fish consumption advisories

 

 

INTERMEDIATE GOAL MEASURES:

  • Increase in percentage of reach showing improved understanding of PS and NPS pollution and its effects on seafood (via survey)
