There are two oil spill models inside SCHISM: a simple particle-tracking plus random diffusion model by Dr. Yung Jung, and a more complex model developed by LNEC group that incorporates many more processes. The latter is still under development w.r.t parallelization of the surface slick module.
Dr. Jung's model
Here are some slides from Dr. Jung about his oil spill model. This model has been tested at OHSU-CMOP for forecasting oil spill response in Columbia River.
The source code is included in the bundle.
VELA-OIL
LNEC group is developing a cutting-edge oil spill model coupled to SCHISM. As of this writing the parallel version of this model is still under development.
